The cylinder. A 500-kilometer artificial habitat anchored at the Vesper L5 point — built to outlast a dying solar system. Five tiers, four million colonists, one Ledger.
§ 01Overview▾
Chroma Colony is the only operational O'Neill cylinder in the Vesper system. Anchored at the L5 Lagrangian point, it was commissioned as a hedge against the failure of the inner colonies and grew, by accident, into the de-facto capital of what remains of human habitation.
The cylinder runs five hundred kilometers along its rotational axis with a thirty-two-kilometer diameter. Spin gravity reads 1.0 g at the hull and falls off toward the central axis, where the Catalytic Spire — the colony's industrial spine — runs unweighted from end to end.
Five tiers stack from outer hull to spinal axis: the Upper Hab-Domes (Vale, the Castle), the Mid-Levels (corporate buffer), the Promenade (Kalyx, Deck 7), the Sub-Level (orchards, sealed archives), and the Hub (radiator fins, exterior dock).
§ 02Character▾
The colony reads as one continuous neon city. The artificial sun in the Castle calibrates a six-hour cycle that the lower tiers never see directly; the Promenade is on its own lighting standard; the Vents run sodium-orange around the clock. Five hundred kilometers of glass. The frame composition for every wide shot in the broadcast is built off this geometry.
